Best Practices Day broadened its reach this year, with more than half of participants (54%) attending for the first time. The virtual event drew almost 200 people from across Ontario, as well as participants from Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec and Nova Scotia.

This year’s theme focused on moving beyond the pandemic and sessions covered a range of topics, including:

  • the impact of COVID-19 across the system from patient, provider and research perspectives
  • resilience and coping among health care professionals, and
  • best practices in areas such as providing rehab in remote areas, addressing mental health issues in inpatient rehab and transitioning to adult rehab services.

All speakers were rated highly in evaluations, and a high proportion of people indicated they were interested in attending next year’s event. In the words of attendees:

“This was my first conference, and it exceeded my expectations.”

“An excellent panel and so relevant. The importance of rehab in supporting these patients really came out.”

“Short presentations are a great way to get the highlights and follow up with the presenter. Excellent variety.”

Planning will soon begin for next year’s event. Stay tuned!
